In the Indian market, large book sales are rare. “The Immortals of Meluha”, the first book in Tripathi’s “ The Shiva Trilogy ,” has sold over 1 million books in two and half years, and has become the fastest-selling book series in Indian publishing history. His works have also been translated into 19 languages and are permanent fixtures on best-sellers lists. Tripathi’s decision has since catapulted him to a cult-like status in the Indian publishing world. ![]() Consequently, he decided to enlist the help of his literary agent, Anuj Bahri, to self-publish his book. ![]() ![]() ![]() In 2010, his first book, “ The Immortals of Meluha”- a retelling of the mythology surrounding the Hindu God Shiva - was rejected by more than 20 major publishers. Amish Tripathi, a former investment banker with an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, emerged from obscurity to bestselling status almost entirely on his own self-published steam.
